November 25th: Day of Action to Free Oso Blanco

https://www.facebook.com/events/1522353564749916/

oso

One small way to stand against the ongoing genocide of indigenous people celebrated in u.s.-occupied Native land on November 26th* is to stand with natives who are held captive by the u.s. without the consent of the sovereign nations to which they belong.

One opportunity is the case of Oso Blanco aka Byron Chubbuck, a Cherokee sovereign citizen of Cherokee, Choctaw, and Celtic ancestry held by the u.s., without Cherokee consent, on charges trumped up by the armed career criminal act (ACCA), a part of which was struck down by the us. supreme court as “unconstitutionally vague.”

Things to Do . .

1) Make a small donation to Mr. Chubbuck’s legal fund at freeosoblanco.blogspot.com so that he can challenge his draconian and unjust sentence.

2) Organize a small fundraising event soon if you can–even if it is you and two friends!

3) Spread the word about this call and your event on social media hashtag #FreeOsoBlanco!

4) Find other opportunities to support indigenous self determination where you live and elsewhere!

Denver: Running Down The Walls 2015!

Please share the promo video: https://youtu.be/mPwWnPRuVSM

It’s time again for Denver’s annual Running Down the Walls 5k benefit. This will be our seventh run/walk in solidarity with U.S. held political prisoners and prisoners of war. Last year was the best year, and we need your help to make this year’s even bigger!

Join us Sunday September 6th at Hungarian Freedom Park (901 E 1st Ave). Meet by the Hungarian uprising memorial at 11am with the run starting at 12pm sharp, taking place at the same time as runs in other cities and in prisons across the country! Please be sure to get there early to sign in and get your t-shirt. Food will be provided afterwards. Vegan options included. Bring everyone!

Every year prisoners and ABC chapters organize Running Down the Walls events to raise awareness and funds for political prisoners in further need of support. Additionally, extra funds raised will go to support the 5th annual North American Anarchist Black Cross conference.

This year’s radical 5k is dedicated in loving memory of the revolutionary Phil Africa (died in prison 1/10/2015) and every slain, maimed, and brutalized victim of police terror.

Sign up to run, roll, walk, bike, or volunteer by emailing us at denverabc@riseup.net ♥

From NYC ABC:

The Warchest Program:
The Anarchist Black Cross Federation (ABCF) has initiated a program designed to send monthly checks to those Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War who have been receiving insufficient, little, or no financial support during their imprisonment. The Warchest program was initiated in November 1994. Its purpose is to collect monthly funds from groups and individual supporters, and send that money to Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War (PP/POW) via monthly checks. Over the last two decades, the ABCF warchest has dispensed over $75,000 to political prisoners in the United States. Currently, there are ten imprisoned comrades who receive a monthly stipend as part of the program; they are:
Joseph Bowen
Russell Maroon Shoatz
Alvaro Luna Hernandez
Herman Bell
Robert Seth Hayes
Maliki Shakur Latine
Ruchell Magee
Sundiata Acoli
Hanif Bey
Oso Blanco

For more information, visit: abcf.net/warchest-program

Family and Friends of Maliki Shakur Latine:
Maliki Shakur Latine is a political prisoner, held in New York state. A former Black Panther, Maliki directly faced state repression and, after a 1979 incident with NYPD cops, was sentenced to 25 to life. We are raising funds to aid in the campaign to secure parole for this elder. For more information, visit justiceformaliki.org

Call in for Byron Chubbuck (Oso Blanco)

Call-in today Wed 12/18!

USP Lee where Oso is being held:

Phone: 276-546-0150
Fax: 276-546-9115

Mid Atlantic Regional Office:
Email: MXRO/ExecAssistant@bop.gov
Phone:301-317-3100
Fax: 301-317-3119

When you call & email let them know that Byron Shane Chubbuck
#07909-051 has a documented history of chronic, severe illness (Hep C, and
an undiagnosed mass that appeared in his liver a few months ago). His
several sick calls have been ignored, despite constant and debilitating
leg, side and back pain. He needs a proper ultrasound of the tumor, and
ongoing medical attention.

He is currently in SHU (Administrative Segregation/Solitary Confinement)
because a drawing of a Cherokee burial mound was found in his cell, and he
was accused by guards of having an “escape tool.” We demand he be released
from SHU, and the charges dismissed. He was not trying to escape, and SHU
is no place for a sick prisoner.

Let the MA regional office know that USP Lee has been denying Byron Shane Chubbuck #07909-051 medical attention.  They are ignoring his sick calls and a chronic liver illness patient should not be in administrative segregation. We demand that USP Lee get him the medical attention he needs, and stop harassing this sick prisoner.

Please leave comments below about how the call goes or any responses you receive!

Byron Shane Chubbuck is a wolf clan Cherokee/Choctaw raised in New Mexico,
his Indian name is Oso Blanco and he became known by the authorities as
“Robin the Hood” after the FBI and local gang unit APD officers learned
that Oso Blanco was robbing banks to send thousands of dollars with of
supplies to the Zapatista Rebels of Chiapas on a regular basis during 1998
and 1999.

Chubbuck is serving 80 years for bank robbery, aggravated assault on the
FBI, escape and firearms charges. Byron engaged federal agents in a gun
battle on August 13th 1999 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Although Chubbuck escaped, he was arrested later that day and sentenced to
time in New Mexico’s state Penitentiary. After serving just over a year in
New Mexico, he escaped from a prison transport van and almost immediately
began robbing banks. He was recaptured a short time later. Byron never
used a gun in any bank robbery, but he has a long history of living by the
gun and will not hesitate to use it on the agents of repression or the
occupiers of Aztlan whom force false laws on the true people of this land.

Quote from Oso “I am still able to hold my head up high and feel the
gratification for my work in a world where money, power and destructive
industries are regarded far above humanity, indigenous and impoverished
peoples and cultures. I cannot help that I got deeply into my work….”

Stand up for Captive Cherokee Warrior Oso Blanco

NOTE- As of 2/5/2012 Oso Blanco’s supporters are asking that calls me directed to SMU Louisiana rather than Louisburg. Please note the updated contact info below.

Stand up for Captive Cherokee Warrior Oso Blanco

http://sbrooklynabcf.wordpress.com/2012/02/04/stand-up-for-captive-cherokee-warrior-oso-blanco/

In October, Cherokee political prisoner Byron Shane of Chubbuck (also known as Oso Blanco and Yona Unega)  was preparing for a federal transfer from USP Lewisburg to FCI Oakdale, Louisiana, Special Management Unit (SMU).  Lewisburg staff were well aware of the vital tribal documents included in his property which were packed out intact by Mr. Vey on October 4, 2011.

This transfer was canceled. There was a lot of delay and confusion in getting Oso Blanco’s property returned to him. Property came back from Oakdale, Louisiana and was unpacked on January 13, 2012. Oso Blanco’s address book was torn in two. Vital documents that had been inserted inside and held with a rubber band were missing. Other items were missing. Generally the property was ransacked in a manner well beyond simple negligence or sloppiness but rather, showing clear signs deliberate destruction.

Support Oso Blanco by Calling in and Writing on Friday January 15th!!

Byron Chubbuck, whose Indian name is Oso Blanco, is serving 80 years for expropriating money from banks and sending thousands of dollars to Chiapas, Mexico to help fund the Zapatistas and feed indigenous children. Because of his political background, he has been subject to
horrendous treatment at U.S. Penitentiary Lewisburg which includes: beatings, waterboarding, mail tampering, false charges, and the forced cutting of his hair which is a great offense against a Native American! The torture must be stopped!

*CALL:*
There is going to be a coordinated effort to call in on behalf of Byron Shane Chubbuck. Contact USP Lewisburg on FRIDAY JANUARY 15TH 2010 between the hours of 10am-12:00pm Eastern Standard time, (7am-9am Pacific) If you cannot make this time frame, you can still CALL at
another time on the 15th, but make sure you do CALL. It is essential that we maintain a unified
effort in letting the prison staff know that we oppose the abuse against Mr. Chubbuck.
*The number at USP Lewisburg is:*

*570-523-1251* (keep trying if no answer!) ask for the Mr. Ademai, the
manager of Z Unit.

*WHAT TO SAY*
Hello, I am calling out of concern for inmate Byron Shane Chubbuck, prisoner #07909051. I am aware that his mail is being tampered with, he has been denied medical treatment as well as religious rights, and has sustained both physical and psychological abuse by staff at your
facility. I am requesting that steps be taken to correct this misconduct and hope to hear a response from you as soon as possible. Mr. Chubbuck will let us know if this continues. Thank you, (Name)

Call from Jericho: Support Oso Blanco

Oso BlancoJericho is asking for help in raising funds for a lawyer for Oso Blanco (aka Byron Shane Chubbuck), a Native American political prisoner being held and abused at Lewisburg federal prison.

He has been attacked by guards three times within the last few months and, after consulting with a lawyer, we decided we need to send a lawyer to visit him sooner rather than later. It will cost about a thousand for the trip there and a day visit/retainer, as well as getting the necessary documents for the lawyer.

By sending the donation through I.F.C.O., you will be able to have a deduction for your income tax. So please help us get this done, as we are concerned about not only Oso’s safety, but his mental health under this abusive treatment.

1. make out check to IFCO/NYC Jericho
2. on memo line Oso Blance’s lawyer
3. send check to the Jericho Movement P.O.Box 1272 New York, NY 10013
4. We will take the checks to IFCO
5. Drop Oso a note or card to let the prison know folks outside are concerned about our brother.
