DABC’s 3rd Annual Martyr’s Ball!
8pm until the dancin stops!
2727 W. 27th Ave Unit D Denver, 80211
You are cordially invited to the 2011 Martyr’s Ball, DABC’s second largest fundraiser of the year, as well as a commemoration of Haymarket Day, the day that in 1887, 4 of the Chicago 8 were murdered by the state. More info on Haymarket and the Chicago 8 available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_affair
Martyr’s Ball is an annual night of dancing, music, costume, food, celebration, and remembrance. Martyr’s Ball serves as a fundraiser for the Denver Anarchist Black Cross’s Mutual Aid Fund, a monetary fund that provides emergency economic relief to members of local social movements, including money for rent, utilities, hospital bills, legal needs, groceries, childcare expenses or other urgent needs.
Come dressed as a liberatory social movement martyr, and help us remember our dead, and dance like hell for the living. Awards are presented for the best costume. Food, drink, and music will be provided, as well as our famous piñata breaking.
A suggested donation of $5-20 will be taken at the door to benefit DABC. Drinks and food will be available for additional donations.
Bring your friends, comrades, and lovers to remember the dead and dance like hell for the living.
